A Machine to See With

Company: Blast Theory and The Banff Arts Centre

Roles: Motion Graphics, Illustration, Opening titles, credits, and film graphics

This motion graphics work was created for Blast Theory’s A Machine To See With title sequence, a locative cinema project where the audience becomes the lead character in an unfolding narrative.

The opening titles, credits and graphic system were designed to reflect the immersive and cinematic nature of the experience, blurring the line between film and participation. The visual language builds tension through pacing, layered composition and atmospheric motion, supporting the sense of being guided through a controlled but unpredictable story.

Typography, motion and graphic elements were crafted to feel minimal yet charged, reinforcing the themes of agency, surveillance and narrative control at the heart of the project. The result is a cohesive title sequence that sets the tone for an interactive film where the viewer is also the protagonist.
